Celebration of Wishes was inspired by the abundance of light and color in early spring. I was especially influenced by The poem “A Light Exists In Spring” by Emily Dickinson.
A light exists in spring
Not present on the year
At any other period.
When March is scarcely here
A color stands abroad
On solitary hills
That science cannot overtake,
But human nature feels.
I wanted to capture the same emotion as the poem and portray the ephemeral joy and transitory nature of early spring.
I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint, gold leaf, and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, inch and a half deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
