The poem “There is Another Sky” by Emily Dickinson inspired me to create an oil painting of the same name. I was especially stirred by this phrase:
Never mind faded forests, Austin,
Never mind silent fields-
Here is a little forest,
Whose leaf is ever green
I was attempting to capture the fervent emotion of the poem and the feeling of hope in a brighter future.
I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint, gold leaf, and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, inch and a half deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
