Abracadabra 24″x24″ Abstract Oil Painting SOLD

I wanted Abracadabra to have a genuine feeling of freedom. I wanted it to be completely open and flowing, because so many people including me have felt so restricted lately. This painting is about breaking free.

To create something open and peaceful, I made a clean break from my usual technique. Instead of painting in a more controlled way, I just let myself go and allowed it to happen. I poured soothing colors on the canvas, then layered over it and added gold leaf. I wanted it to be totally fresh and spontaneous.

This is part of the same series as Great Awakening. I painted both of these at the same time, because they both evoke the same feeling of freedom and openness. They are both about what make us feel alive.

I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint, gold leaf, and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, inch and a half deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
