Chasing Secrets was inspired by brilliant spring colors and the feeling of breaking loose from the things that are holding you back. In springtime, suddenly everything comes alive and bursts forth. Even the sky looks much brighter, and that blue sky kind of wakes up in many of my springtime paintings.
I wanted to capture that exciting feeling of freedom. In this painting, that shows in the contrasts between the more muted colors along the edges versus the more organic shapes and brighter colors in the center. Whenever I do geometric forms, I like to mix in a bit of chaos. It’s all about growing and breaking free.
I created this abstract painting using archival-grade oil paint and natural non-toxic solvent on luxuriously thick, inch and a half deep gallery wrapped canvas. The edges are painted, so the piece is ready to hang unframed.
